Plus we have, <a href=\"\/cicadas\/the-lucky-cicada-keychain\/\">Cicada Keychain Parts<\/a>, <a href=\"\/cicadas\/lucky-cicada-keychain-packaging\/\">Packaging scans from Ben<\/a>, <a href=\"\/cicadas\/more-lucky-cicada-keychain-images\/\">Packages and images found by Roy<\/a>, and <a href=\"\/cicadas\/archie-mcphee-advertisement-for-the-lucky-cicada\/\">a scan from an Archie McPhee catalog from Suzanne M<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Once or twice a year someone e-mails Cicada Mania asking if we know where to<br \/>\nfind <i>the<\/i> cicada keychain &#8212; you know, &#8220;the one that buzzes&#8221;. Although there<br \/>\nare many keychains which feature<br \/>\ncicadas (e.g. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gobostore.com\/am-jx01-kl-55-product.html\">trapped in amber<\/a>),<br \/>\nI&#8217;ve never found  <i>the<\/i> cicada keychain online.<\/p>\n<p>I haven&#8217;t found these in stores since Clinton was in office. Back in the day,<br \/>\nyou could find them in mall stores like &#8220;The Nature Company&#8221;, &#8220;The Science Nook&#8221;<br \/>\nand &#8220;The Planet Store&#8221;. Once, in the late 90&#8217;s I asked the manager of one of these<br \/>\nstores about the these<br \/>\nkeychains and she said: &#8220;we don&#8217;t carry them any more, the last batch was defective&#8221;.<br \/>\nShe seemed angry that I even asked her about them. I wish I knew more. Maybe these<br \/>\nstores lost so much money because of these defective key chains that they all went<br \/>\nout of business? Or maybe they didn&#8217;t sell enough whale song CDs, glow-in-the-dark<br \/>\nmoon stickers, or mystical crystals to pay the rent?\n<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve spent way too much time looking for these keychain online, and I&#8217;ve<br \/>\npretty much given up hope.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I&#8217;ve searched numerous online stores that specialize in novelties and keychains.<\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;ve e-mailed these stores requesting that they stock these keychains &#8212; but I get no response.<\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;ve searched ebay.<\/li>\n<li>I&#8217;ve spend hours doing Google searches.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are two problems with searching for stuff like this online:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Search engines have a hard time indexing online stores (for technical reasons<br \/>\nI won&#8217;t waste your time with), and&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>Who knows how people would describe these things?<br \/>\nAre they keychains, key chains, keyrings, or key rings? Are they cicadas, locusts,<br \/>\ninsects or bugs?
