2009 Magicicada Sightings

No Magicicada emergence are due this year, but there has been quite a few reports of stragglers, which are Magicicadas that emerge in the wrong year, usually a year early or late, or 4 years early.

These are Magicicadas:

They have black bodies, usually red eyes, and usually orange wings and legs. They only live east of the Rockies.

Be sure to tell Magicicada.org about your cicada sighting as well, so the scientists can make a map of their location.

Have you found an cicada that isn't a periodic cicada? Like a Tibicen chloromera (North America) or a Green Grocer? (Australia) Most cicadas are annual cicadas. There are 1000s of species found on every continent but Antarctica. Report your sighting here.
