We found a lone Cicada in our driveway in Saginaw Twp, MI today 7-12-08. My 4 and 5 yr old boys had never seen one and it took a moment for me to figure it out. We put him (it was male) in my son Blake's insect pail so they could really check him out. He was quite beautiful in a buggy way. We let him go to go about his business, and it will be cool for them to see more so we will have to keep our ears open tonight!

The sound comes in waves. We have hundreds of locust trees, all covered with cicadas(alias locusts) any connection? They are not on our other trees so much. We live in the woods in Southern Ohio. It's very noisy now. I hope this doesn't last long.

I've been blogging about the cicada emergence in our yard in Miami Township and have pics along with them. Maybe when I get back from church services this morning, I'll be able to load the cicada pics to my Flickr site, but have a look if you wish.
