Here’s a video I took of a brown eyed cicada at the Cicada Mania festival in the Ryerson Woods in Deerfield. Most of the time their eyes are red or orange. Brown is kind of rare. White or blue is the rarest — I have video of one of those to post later in the week. People looking to see some cicadas should head there — more and more are emerging each day.
It’s way to late at night to spell check.
WE HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO FIND A WHITE/GREY EYED CICADA AND A TWO COLOR EYED CICADA IN OUR YARD IN WESTMONT,IL.THE TWO COLORS ARE WHITEISH GREY AND ORANGE. THE TWO COLOR EYED IS A FEMALE AND SHE IS VERY ACTIVE. WE LET THE ONE GO YESTERDAY AND STILL HAVE THE TWO COLORED ONE. WE WILL BE GLAD TO POST PICTURES IF ANYONE WANTS TO SEE. I HAVE READ THE DIFFERENT COLOR EYED CICADAS ARE PRETTY RARE (LESS THAN 1%) BUT WHAT ABOUT THE TWO COLOR EYED ONES. I WOULD THINK THEY ARE EVEN RARER. THANKS FOR HAVING SUCH A GREAT SITE.

Gerry Bunker found one off old Mill road, Deerfield on June 2, 2007. I also discovered one at Allision Woods on Des Plains River Road on 6/5/07.
