I am currently visiting the U.S.A and am delighted to hear the cicadas buzzing. I can't understand how anyone can complain! I am English but I have lived in France for 16 years. In the south of France we hear a the 'cigale' buzzing.This is either a french cicada or a cousin .These insects look the same but the buzz is slightly different. Thousands of 'cigales' buzz/ buzz/buzz/buzz/buzz, then they all stop at the same time for a FEW SECONDS .... then they start again all at the same time!!! It's amazing and it's the song of the cote d'azur. It's also the song of summer, so how can anyone complain? What a wonderful picture.
