Here’s a strange ebay auction: $99 for a Cicada Insect with McDonalds Type Golden Arches On Head.
There’s a couple of Tibicens with the Mickey D’s logo on their back in our gallery:
- Elise Solloway’s Tibicen Gallery: Photos taken southwest of Woodward, Oklahoma, the first week in July, 2005
- Roy Troutman: 2004 Tibicen Gallery
Update: Gerry points out that he mentions the McDonalds arches on his Tibicen morphologies page. I wonder if Miss McDonald would approve?
Update 2: Gerry posted an article titled People Will Do Anything for a Buck today about this ebay auction.
The best example of the “M” is on Thopha colorata, a cicada found in central Australia. There in Alice Springs, they are aptly called “W-bugs”, so “get over it Maccers!!
